Introduction to Wet Felting

 

Using water, soap and agitation, we’ll use wool fibre to make a few different objects. We’ll play with shaping, working with silk scarves, and a variety of fibres. This is a basic workshop to build some skill and learn some techniques so you can felt on your own. We’ll make a flat piece of cloth, felted soap, a flower, and do nuno felting if there’s time. Lots of demo’s and time to explore!

Natural Dyeing: Indigo and Shibori Techniques

 

INDIGO dye has been used for thousands of years to dye fabric blue. In this workshop you will learn how to make an Indigo Dye Vat to dye natural materials. We will explore a variety of Shibori patterns to tie, sew, fold + clamp cotton fabric to make striking prints on cloth. You will go home with lots of samples of patterns and the confidence to build your own INDIGO Dye Vat.

 

BRING: a piece of clothing/fabric of natural materials, rubber gloves, lunch + a friend!
WEAR: Clothes that can get dirty
COST: 125$ + 25$ material fee

Learn To Knit

Join Kim Fenton of Unwind Knit and Fibre Lounge for a quick introduction to knitting. This class will get you started on a scarf! Bring yarn and appropriate sized needles, or some money to purchase yarn and needles available in class. We will learn and discuss cast on and garter stitch, with time to practice.
