Alice Munro is a master of fiction, there’s no debating that. But what is the mechanism of the works’ genius? In this two-part workshop, discover some of Munro’s favourite techniques and use them to transform your own prose into vibrant and sophisticated masterpieces.
Whether writing something new or revising a long-shelved story, this course will show you how to unlock the potential of your writing with a “try-this” attitude. Drawing inspiration from our country’s finest short fiction writer, you will gain the tools you really need to transform your writing from “rough” to “ready”—analysis of the mechanisms of prose, the most important step in mastering the art of revision.
This course is for writers as well as readers and fans of Alice Munro. In-class exercises allow anyone to try out a Munro technique and develop not only their own skills as a writer, but a deeper appreciation of this internationally acclaimed master of prose.
