Growing up I was convinced that I didn’t have an artistic bone in my body. Through what I like to call a series of universal events, I was led to devote myself to a passionate, independent study of drawing and painting.
Oil painting has been my primary mode of expressing for over 25 years, though I have dabbled in other media such as charcoal, watercolour, pastels, and coloured pencil. Drawing has always been a throughline for me – a way to connect almost instantly with my world and my self. Recently I have moved into portrait drawing and am delighting in interpreting the essence of others through the simple pencil.
I continue to delight in my ability and passion to express myself creatively. In recent years I have discovered the pleasure of passing my enthusiasm and knowledge on to others. I firmly believe that each of us is fundamentally creative and that many people have not yet tapped into their full creative potential. Indeed they may believe, as I once did, that they are incapable of such expression.
I have been teaching drawing and painting on the Coast for the past six years. For more about me, please visit my website www.patriciacollier.com
