Marion Quednau has won national awards for her fiction and poetry, from the Smithbooks-Books in Canada Award for her first novel, The Butterfly Chair (Random House, 1988) to her People’s Choice award as a Canada Writes finalist for poetry, 2012. Her writing for children, The Gift of Odin (Annick Press, 2007), was a top ten selection by the Ontario Library Assoc./Canadian Children’s Book Centre. “Joy in the writing comes through strongly,” is one critic’s comment. Marion has previously shared this joy in her workshops for Fraser Valley University, many writers’ festivals and school districts. She has worked in outreach projects with art galleries, at-risk youth and women, and has created programs of storytelling for children and life-writing for seniors. Marion is also a free-lance editor, helping writers get their bright ideas to completion and publication.
