Kim Hadley is a full time web designer, part time basket maker, and though not formally trained, has been involved in creative arts for her whole life. From stained glass, to mixed media paintings, beaded jewelry, now basket making, her work evolves as does her life.
These baskets and birdhouses are inspired by local flotsam & jetsam found on beaches, backyards, and beyond. Each piece is hand crafted and unique. Using a coiled technique, with pine needles as the base, the baskets evolve incorporating other mostly natural materials into the design. Anything from sea glass, to Spanish moss, llama wool, arbutus bark… all fair game!
Living and working on her boat, Dovekie in Gibsons, her goal is retiring to float around the coast of British Columbia, gathering interesting things to make baskets out of.
